Cold Weather Exercise: Walking 101

Preparation:
Staying warm is vital and the best method is to dress in layers. Do not start layering with cotton. When cotton gets wet, moisture is trapped and will make you colder. For the first layer, try moisture-wicking sportswear. Next, a little fleece and finally something thin, breatheable, and waterproof.

Hypothermia means body temperature has fallen below 95 degrees Fahrenheit. It occurs when your body can't produce enough energy to keep your internal temperature warm enough. So staying warm is very important as is setting a time limit on being outside. Try to find a safe, unobscured, and well-traveled route that lasts 15-20 minutes at the most. Hard surfaces and sidewalks are preferrable.
